This way you can find out whether a water-repellent shoe is enough for your everyday life - or whether you need the protection of a waterproof model after all.

Whether you're strolling through the city or hiking in the Alps, wet feet are a real mood killer. But how does a water-repellent shoe differ from a waterproof model? And in which situations do you need which one? To understand this better, let's take a closer look at two examples: the Merino Runner as a water-repellent sneaker and the Wool Cross X Alpine as a waterproof hiking boot.

THE BASICS

Water-repellent means that moisture initially rolls off the material, for example in rain or when splashed with water. However, with heavier or prolonged contact with water, moisture will penetrate. Waterproof means that the material is processed in such a way that water remains outside even with heavier or prolonged contact. In short: water-repellent protects you in everyday life, waterproof protects you on real outdoor adventures.

MERINO RUNNERS – water-repellent comfort for everyday wear

Merino Runners are trainers made from fine merino wool. They are lightweight, breathable and mould perfectly to your feet. Thanks to the natural properties of merino wool, light rain or splashes of water simply roll off. This is perfectly adequate for dry roads, short showers or the journey to the office.

Particularly pleasant: the temperature regulation of merino wool ensures that your feet neither sweat nor freeze – even when worn barefoot, the trainers feel comfortable and airy.

Suitable for you if:

  • you are looking for a faithful companion for everyday life
  • you value lightness and comfort
  • you are looking for protection from occasional rain or wetness

WOOL CROSS X ALPINE – waterproof protection for outdoors

The Wool Cross X Alpine shoes are designed for a wide range of situations: hiking in the mountains and forests, wet paths, snow or heavy rain. The shoes are waterproof, so your feet stay dry even when in constant contact with water.

Inside, merino wool also ensures a comfortable climate – warm in winter, cool in summer. In addition, the shoe offers stability, cushioning and a non-slip Micro Grip sole. This means you can walk safely even on rough terrain.

Suitable for you if:

  • you spend a lot of time outdoors in nature
  • you want to be sure of dry feet, whatever the weather
  • you value support, stability and protection

Whether water-repellent or waterproof – both have their advantages. The Merino Runner is perfectly adequate for everyday use in the city or light rain. However, if you often go out into nature or are out and about in wind and weather, then the Wool Cross X Alpine is the better choice. This means you are well prepared for any situation – without compromising on comfort and protection.
